Dom Handlowy Ślązak is a distinctive post-war retail building located at 7 Mickiewicza Street in the very center of Katowice. Built in the 1960s, it is one of the most interesting examples of modernist commercial architecture in the region. For decades, it operated as a popular furniture store, and during the communist era, it was a destination for Silesians seeking coveted home furnishings. The building features a simple, geometric form and large glazed areas that ensure ample natural lighting inside. Today, it serves as a shopping center with service and retail units spread over several floors. Interiors offer flexible retail spaces that can be adapted as needed. The building is equipped with monitoring, suspended ceilings, computer and telephone wiring, fiber-optic cabling, heat and smoke detectors, and openable windows. Users have access to surface parking in front of the building. The facility underwent thorough modernization between 2010 and 2013, bringing it up to modern retail and service standards.
