About Morawskiego 5

Morawskiego 5 is one of Kraków’s most distinctive examples of late modernism-a seven-storey office building known as the Biprocemwap office block. Built between 1959 and 1966, it was designed by Prof. Wojciech Buliński in collaboration with Natalia Stańko and Zbigniew Żuławiński. The building features a light, gently curved main volume raised on massive pilotis, with a glazed ground floor and an open plan allowing for flexible interior arrangements. An expressive rooftop pavilion crowns the structure, which is set around an internal green courtyard. The façade is articulated by prefabricated vertical reinforced concrete fins, creating a rhythmic, geometric effect. The building uses a reinforced concrete frame structure, and interiors are organized on a modular grid. At opening, it housed offices, a clinic, canteen, coffee bar, assembly hall, and garages, and was intended for about 1,200 employees. The building is listed in the municipal heritage register and is considered Kraków’s closest realization of Le Corbusier’s ideas. Today, it houses the Biprocemwap company, and in recent years, adaptation to a hotel has been considered.
